Umbrella Stands

Tucked by the door, it does a genuinely useful job; giving wet umbrellas, walking sticks, and canes somewhere to drip and dry that isn't the floor, but the best ones also do something more than that. They give a hallway its personality. A heavy ceramic stand with a rich glaze, a sculptural metal form, or a simply beautiful wooden piece says something about the home it stands in: that someone has thought about this space too, not just the rooms beyond it.
